So I started by saying that I want to value Jesus more. I truly want Him to be my all in all. How am I to do that?

For me, that starts by looking to Jesus and His cross. I get turned down for a job - I look to Jesus, who is the rock on which I build my life; he is faithful and unchanging. Someone says something hurtful to me - I look to the cross and remind myself that anything I experience is as nothing compared to what Jesus went through for me. I find myself lapsing into envy - I look to Jesus compared to whom all other pleasures are as dung, Paul says. I feel cast aside and without value - I turn to Jesus and remember that God the Son was willing to die in order to bring me into His fold.

If I turn to Jesus - if we turn to Jesus - in all situations; in other words, if, as Martin Lloyd-Jones said, we preach the glorious gospel of Christ to our hearts instead of listening to our sinful selves, then Jesus becomes more and more valuable to us.

He will be with you. He will comfort you. He will uphold you with his mighty right hand. He will love you. He will give you the peace that passes all understanding. He is faithful and true. Jesus is not just my prize; he is THE prize.
